  1. The more time and attention you give to stretching the more benefits you will experience.
  2. Seek professional guidance.
  3. Warm up first, 10 -15 minutes of walking, etc.
  4. Tailor your stretching to your specific needs. We all have problem areas.
  5. Stretch every day, consistency is important.
  6. Calm your mind while stretching.
  7. Concentrate and relax.
  8. Practice proper breathing, exhale as you stretch.
  9. Don't hold your breath while stretching, this will cause the muscles to tighten.
  10. Practice slow, easy breathing while stretching.
  11. Don't push a stretch too far, stretch muscles gently.
  12. Don't bounce during stretches.
  13. Stretch muscles slowly.
  14. Listen to your bodies signals for pain, you know your limit.
  15. Hold a stretch for 10- 30 seconds.
  16. Always stretch both sides of your body for balance.
  17. Drink lots of water.
